Meet the Instructors
Senior Master Kara Mitchell – Chief Instructor
Senior Master Kara Mitchell began her AEGIS journey in 2012 as a student at the Leeds West academy. Her original goals were to improve confidence, maintain fitness and gain practical self-defence skills.
After just three years of training, she was invited to join the AEGIS Certified Instructor Training programme and began developing as a professional instructor. She became a full-time instructor in 2016, first serving as Program Director before becoming Chief Instructor.
Since September 2019, she has led the Leeds South academy, helping build a growing community of students of all ages. Her goal is simple: to help more people experience the life-changing benefits martial arts can bring.
Miss Alice Birley – Program Director
As a 1st Degree Black Belt, Miss Birley supports students across the children’s programs and helps ensure every student receives high-quality coaching, encouragement and structure throughout their training.
Mr Steve Da Silva – Program Director
Mr Da Silva brings additional support and leadership to the academy, helping students develop confidence, discipline and strong martial arts foundations as they progress through training.
All instructors are certified black belts, DBS checked, fully insured and professionally trained in teaching the AEGIS system safely and effectively.
